How Tap4Print works
Self-service printing at a Tap4Print kiosk is four visible steps and two invisible rules. You upload or scan, choose options, pay, and collect. Behind the glass, payment is verified on our servers and only then does the print agent talk to the printer. That is how an unattended printing kiosk stays honest.
Start a session at the kiosk
Walk up to a machine that is marked online on Find a kiosk. The home screen offers Print Document, Scan & Print, Login / Wallet, and Help. Starting print or scan creates a kiosk session with a timeout. If you walk away, the session expires and the next person does not inherit your preview.
You do not need an account for guest print. You will be asked for a name and phone so a refund can be matched if the printer fails after payment. Wallet users can log in and skip that on the next visit.
1. Upload or scan
Upload is the usual path. You can start from the kiosk or scan the session QR and print from your phone. The QR is not a payment QR. It is a tokenized upload URL for that session only. Accepted files are PDF, JPG, JPEG, and PNG.
Scan-and-print is for paper originals. The scanner captures pages, you preview them, drop bad pages, and the kiosk builds a PDF. That flow is described on Scan and print. Either way, the file is stored on a short-lived URL, not as a permanent library. See Security.
2. Choose print options
The configure step is where the pricing engine runs. You pick paper size (A4, A3, Letter, Legal), color or black-and-white, single or double sided, copies, and a page range if you do not need the whole PDF.
The quote shows subtotal, GST, and total before you pay. Location rules can override the public table. If you are unsure about size, read the print size guide or estimate with the printing calculator.

3. Pay securely
UPI, cards, net banking, and wallet are supported. The important rule: printing does not start because the screen said so. The backend must verify the payment. That is the same rule we publish in the Terms and on automated printing.
Wallet is useful if you print every week — students and offices often add money once and tap through later. Wallet pages are not SEO pages; they are product screens after login.
4. Collect your prints
After verification the job enters the queue. The print agent sends one job to the printer attached to that kiosk. Two jobs do not share the same engine at once. The screen shows progress. When it finishes, collect the stack and tap Done so the session can clear.
If hardware fails after money has moved, the system can create a refund. Read the Refund policy and keep the order id.
What this is not
Tap4Print is not a staffed photocopy shop and not a home printer with a tablet glued on. It is a smart printing kiosk network with heartbeats, paper and toner levels, and admin for operators. If you want to host a machine, see become a kiosk partner.

Can I print a Word file?
Export it as PDF first. The kiosk accepts PDF and images so rendering stays consistent. See how to print a document.
What if payment succeeds but paper jams?
Ask for a refund with the order id. Wallet returns to wallet; gateways start a provider refund. Details are in the Refund policy.
